Plagiarizing

I thought that the readings were very interesting. The articles about plagiarism are what really interested me the most. I can’t believe how dumb some students can be to actually copy other peoples work word for word. Plagiarism is something we learn about very early in our academic careers and there is no excuse to be doing it in college.
It is so easy to cheat to copy and paste because of the resources and technology available to us. I can see why a student would want to copy and paste because it would just make life that much easier and they will be done with their work quicker and have more time to do another project or whatever they want. But it makes me angry that a student would do this and worse I know students copy and paste and not get caught and get a better grade than me and I did all my own work. It is impossible for a professor to go through hundreds of papers and find every student that cheated.
I know that in college there is a lot of work and copy and pasting or plagiarizing may seem like a way to make it easier and save time to get work done quicker but I feel that your grade should be earned from your own work. If someone is caught plagiarizing they should be punished or kicked out of the university. It seems like some schools are lenient on plagiarizing and if a student is caught they just get a little slap on the wrist and have to do the paper over again. This won’t fix the problem of plagiarizing in schools today there needs to be stricter consequences for plagiarizing.

reasearch paper

When I was choosing my topic for my research paper I had a hard time. I am a Sports Administration major and wanted to write about a topic that was about sports.  The topic I choose was if fighting should be allowed in hockey. Being a hockey player and a Sports Administration major I think that this will be a good topic for me to write about and something that I already know about. Hockey has become a popular sport especially around Pittsburgh with the recent success of the Penguins. It is always been argued that fighting shouldn’t be a part of the game of hockey and I am willing to argue against that because fighting has always been a part of the game since the begging and I feel that there is a place for it. Since the NHL lockout the league has been doing a lot to market the game to more un traditional hockey markets and taking fighting out has been an idea that’s has been talked about. But why should they change something that has been that way for years and a big part of the game just to please a few over protective mothers so little Johnny will be allowed to watch a hockey game and not see any violence.  I am excited to write this paper and do more research on it.

Annotated Bibliography

DeBoer, Kathleen J. ""Practice Like a Girl, Compete Like a Boy"" Olympic Coach 18.1 (2006): 4-7. Web.

The author in this article in the Olympic Coach journal explains the difference of coaching males and females in my field of Athletic Administration and Athletic Coaching. She explains what obstacles a coach can expect within coaching different genders. It discusses what a coach must do in  order to coach a males team more like a female sports team because women athletes have better practice habits that if applied to a men's team will make it more successful.
